I am really regreting it now n wondering wether to jus sell it any help or info or tips pls THERE IS NOTHING WRONG WITH THE MK1 BOX AND COLLAR I USED IT FOR YEARS AND TO BE HONEST THERE NOT AS FAST TO LOCATE YOUR TERRIER, WITH ALL THE WALKING UP AND DOWN SEARCHING BUT ONCE YOUR OVER THE DOG THERE MORE ACCURATE THAN THE B.F. THERE NOT WATER PROOF SO PUT PLENTY ELECTRICIAL TAPE AROUND THE BARREL ON THE COLLAR, AND DONT GET THE BOX WET. I HAVE THE B.F BUT SOMETIMES STILL USE THE OLD KNOCKER BOX AND COLLAR. I STILL GET THAT BIT OF A BUZZ WHEN I HEAR THAT CLICK CLICK CLICK. PS, ALWAYS CHECK THE BATTERIES. HAPPY DIGGING Quote Link to post

fensaluki 35
Most of us on here that dig to our dogs and probably everybody that has done it for any amount of time will have dug to the Mrk1 many many times mate. True they are not as reliable as the belman and flint and have nothing like the range but they are still perfectly acceptable pieces off kit providing they are in a good state of repair, in calibration and you stick to sencible earths unless you are experianced. They do suffer from the damp but this can be reduced by securley tapeing up the transmiter on the collar with electrical tape which I would suggest you do every time you enter a dog with this system. Adding the Mrk 3 collar will definatly make the system more reliable by 10 fold but is not a must by any means. As for not locating presicley in my honest opinion I think they are probably the most pin point accurate box I have worked with as long as they are in good working order as personly I find the B&F can often throw me a a foot or so out (this could just be me ) but the old knocker box used to put me on the money pritty much every time. Please dont get me wrong the bellman and flint is in my opinion a far more advanced and reliable system but I wouldn't pack up digging without it. Bootsha 1,306
MK1 is a good bit of kit, was a major breakthru in the days of old when mad dogs ruled and the bigger your ears were the better you could find ya dog !! Like has been said, good ones are like gold dust these days mate. Theres not amny terriermen nowadys that havent got one somewhere in the kit bag "for emergency's" I know I have.
