CWN-HELA 228
EVERY BODY HAS THERE DIFFRENT WAYS OF WORKING DOGS, YOU CAN START THEM YOUGH WITH OTHER WORKING DOGS ON TOP, AND HOLD THEM BACK WHEN YOU GET AN EARTH..WHEN THEY ARE OLD ENOGHE LET THEM GET IN VOLVED.. THEY WILL WIN ON THERE ON TIME, ( BUT YOU DEFO DONT WANT THEM GOING 2 GROUND 2 YOUGH AN GETTING A BITE " WILL PUT THEM OFF ".. IF YOU WANT A DOG THAT JUST WORKS EARTH TAKE HIM OUT EVERY TIME SO HE CAN SEE HOW OTHER DOGS WORK, AND WHEN HE SHOWS LOT OF INTREST AND MARKS AN VERY KEEN ON SINCKING AN OLD ENOUGH PUT HIM DOWN NICE EASY EARTH SO HE CAN WIN...THERE IS LOADS OF DIFFRENT WAYS YOU LADS WOULD WORK YOU DOGS TO YOUR STANDARD...GOOD LUCK Quote Link to post
Born Hunter 17,751
The lads that keep and breed their own stock tend to know when their line are ready to enter, also knowing how matured mentally their pup is. If the ancestors are unknown then the rule of thumb seems to be 14-18 months. Ive known of a few dogs entered much much later and did well enough. Dogs can be entered too soon but too late is certainly debateable. Quote Link to post
JPTfellterrier 65
i started my old dog at 3, she took to it like a duck to water after watching other dogs. You can always teach an old dog new tricks Quote Link to post
