what do you need when beating

Recommended Posts

What kind of clothes and any thing else I would need if was to start. Ps I allready know I would need a hip flask of slo gin

Wind and waterproof are a must. I'd go for lots of thin light weight layers as sometimes there is a temp change and you can be roasting when your on the move. A big heavy jacket and trousers are no use....

 ......you see my advice is for beaters only as the pickers up advice would be hat, scarf, gloves, jacket, with overcoat and waistcoat with tweed jacket on top. You never get warm just standing about slating the guns..... :whistling:

That is exactly the type of keeper I am :icon_redface:

Another beaters essential is chocolate or cigarettes keepers are easily bribed with either. With a supply of these you are bound to have to walk with the keeper and that is always the shortest and easiest route

At one shoot where I beat and the topography is challenging I asked one young lady how she got to do the easy bits. She stated that you had to sleep with the keeper - I did try - all i got was a fat lip and sent on stop for most of the day!!
