pianoman 3,587
Some guy comes to the door like this, DO NOT bash him one, no matter how much you want to. It'll only make your case look worse. Alex, you did the right thing trying to talk reasonably to him but, he was on a mission to get you banned and he's succeeded. For Now... Go back and have a reasonable word with the lady landowner and explain your case with example of the good you have done for her. It sounds to me like she's been a bit startled by this knob, lying his case with bullshit in the name of the law so, be calm and reassuring. And be tactful about the birds you shoot. If this guy hasn't actually seen you shoot any bird, he has no evidence of you doing it. Yes, a little judicious, tactful lying keeps a lot of hassle at bay. I've had years of this with a Nature reserve next to my permission and twitchers, Badger watchers and God knows what else walking on the land being all self-righteous. A simple point-out that they are in real danger of being accidentally shot while trespassing on private land usually sobers them up; but, I'm lucky my mate is more concerned about his crops than the pidgeons and rabbits scoffing it all! Hope you lads can get this resolved. Simon Quote Link to post
Webby1 34
as what has been said before mate find out where the guy lives go knocking on his door and say that he has been using his binos to spy on upstairs windows and you will report him to the authorities. p.s. I got Bill Oddies address if you want it Box of Milk Tray .......cos every woman loves Milk Tray Quote Link to post
BASE JUMPER 18
mate the only way he could find out where your permission was and where you lived was if the weirdo was stalking you just out of curiosity did he wear an anorak and if he loves the birds so much you can show him the birdie :feck: Quote Link to post
scalesntails 118
I think id of done what you did go with the laws printed out and a box of chocolateses for her ,leave them with her give her some breathing space and go back to see her in a fortnight This go around with chocolates a bottle of good sherry and a thank you card for allowing you to shoot on her land in the past. At the same time give her the leaflets showing the truth and say you are giving them to her just to show you were not lying or taking advantage of her. Tell her if she needs a hand with anything or changes her mind to give you call. If that doesn't work pop in every now and then with a few prepared pidgeon breasts etc and say you were just passing and wanted to make sure she is ok. Quote Link to post
Marksman 934
surely thats slander or character deformation??? Saying you have done something illegal when you havent. If I were in that situation to be honest mate I would have telephoned the local plod and say you are /have been pestered by this "anti" for doing a job you have 100% written permission to do and ask their advice. Ok so he made some bollocks up about you doing it....did he actually see you....if so how close was he??....was he trespassing on "your land" and had no right being there?? They'll do anything to make you look bad mate. But as already said on a few replies, gather as much information as you can and present it to the landowner and maybe ask her to remember why she gave you permission in the first place. If she's worried about the garden birds take a few bird feeders round for her and see if you can pull he back on side Hope you get it sorted mate Darryl Quote Link to post
ftm 3,357
if he came knocking on my door ranting and raving i would send the missus out to keep him busy then phone my mate up the street who would descreetly wait till he was on his merry way then batter him ,i know you mightthink its the wrong way but thats how we deal with things here in north east WE LOOK OUT FOR EACH OTHER Quote Link to post
andyfr1968 772
Sorry to hear that, Alex but at least from your other post you did get some great results. As for the old lady, you could try giving her one of those electric rabbits that are very popular with the ladies and a tub of KY. Give her half an hour to let her and the rabbit get aquainted then try again, there's a good chance she'll agree to anything by then!!! Cheers Quote Link to post
Alex Arrigone 24
cheers for all the great comments lads i dont know how he found out where i lived or about the permission. the permission was a farm conveniently placed 50m from my house... perfect. the community is small here so there's every chance that maybe it came up in conversation between people at the shop or something and he saw his oportunity. atb alex Quote Link to post

secretagentmole 1,701
Another thing to point out to the beardie weirdie is that by shooting crows and magpies you are stopping the damned things eating the eggs of rarer species such as skylarks? Eggs do form part of the crow diet! Quote Link to post
Squirrel Shooter 5
Another thing to point out to the beardie weirdie is that by shooting crows and magpies you are stopping the damned things eating the eggs of rarer species such as skylarks? Eggs do form part of the crow diet! That's a good point, although you must remember that most of these antis who claim to be "at one with nature" typically know nothing of its intricacies. How many times have you had people who you know eat cheap chicken, lamb and pork condemn hunting as "sick" or "cruel"? Quote Link to post
secretagentmole 1,701
This wierdie sounds like a full free range wheat only job! Andy do those electric rabbits suffer from mixamabatteries? Edited February 26, 2011 by secretagentmole Quote Link to post
