lampingboy 284
hi lads, how are you all?? my names Brad im 15 from south wales,i mainly shoot air rifles shotguns and FAC , i have a lakeland patterdale (i believe she is) bitch who is around 2 years old,we got her for a deterant of rats as we had quite a problem with them on our small holding and with her and traps ,the numbers have dropped. Im interested in having another terrier purely for me to work rats and fox,and hopefully in the future to have a litter out of with my current terrier jess. Are there any lines you can reccomend me buying a dog from? and what do you do to train your pups? purely introduce them to rats ?? any help i can get before i commit to a dog will be very very helpful and im very grateful!! heres a pic of my lakeland hope i get a welcome response to this section of THL thanks all Brad. terrierjohn 49
my advice would be to stay away from a line that has a name tag on it alot of pups have been bred from dogs that have big names and not all have been bred for the benefit of the terriers and the soon to be owners who want to work them but yet folk buy the name regardless its hit and miss with any line you get so your better going for a pup from 2 guranteed workers rather than a specific line worker to worker all the way and you should do alright with any pup you get when you start taking dogs with famous names attached to them then its a bit more of a risk on wether the pup turns out unless both parents were workers this just my opinnion and i personally prefer my pups if bought in to be from workers that are un-heard of and usually from folk i know work them regularly you will get lots of different points of view and other folks preferences so take in what gets said and find your own way from there Quote Link to post

Would be ideal if anybody near here would be willing to show me the ropes of digging and working terriers before i go giving her bad habbits! if anybody is willing ill be very very grateful! cheers all Brad.
