rocky1 942
alrite mate ,good x you,ve got on your hands ,for starts just let it be pup ,you can start with doing abit of retrieveing as young as now with its favorite toy ,just mess about with it ,i would,nt start walking it untill a least 3/4 months and thats just short walks ,round the block,at the same age you can work on its recall and stockbreaking ,try not 2 do 2 much at once ,personally i would wait untill at least 9 months 2 interouce it 2 work and do it slow not 2 much at once ,if you have somebody with a older dog that is spot on that will help, you do,nt allways need another dog but it can help, the main thing is just let it be a pup and enjoy the time you have bonding with your dog, hope this helps, atb, gaz Edited February 26, 2011 by rocky1 Quote Link to post
rapidjenky 97
get a dvd called purdeys progress mate. helped me understand how to go about training a pup. what ever you do dont expect to much, go really slow you have alot of time. concentrate on bonding and getting the pups trust. no matter what it dose wrong dont hit it or go mad, just bite your lip and put up with it. always reward the things it dose right with loads of praise. if its in the house get it cage trained, its alot easier. never use its name in anger! only ever use its name if its going to get praise or a reward. that way it will never associate its name with getting told off and will help alot with recall. im just starting with my first ever pup at a very young age, ive never had a dog under 5 months before. 1 Quote Link to post
3 Turns 326
ALRIGHT MATE. YOUR PUP SOUNDS GOOD.PLAY WAE THE PUP AS MUCH AS YOU CAN FOR THE MOMENT AND MAKE IT AS FUN AS POSSIBLE.ONCE ITS 2/3WKS OLDER TAKE IT FOR SHORT WALKS AROUND A FIELD SOMEWHERE ISOLATED AND LET IT INVESTEGATE ITS NEW SURROUNDINGS.LET IT TODDLE ABOUT AND PLAY. STICK WITH ITS BASIC COMMANDS AND AS IT GETS BETTER INTRODUCE MORE COMMANDS.ATL Quote Link to post
