Lennard 10
Maybe it is an infection/virus or just my imagination but when my bitch is in heath her eyes seem to be more bloodshot then when she is not. Anyone seen the same? L

ruby 7
Lennard are you moving your bitch into different surroundings? It could possibly be a change of routine(walking her somewhere different or change of bedding etc)that is putting her into contact with an irritant that is affecting her eyes.Just a thought. Lennard 10
Ruby, thought that as well...I moved a couple of weeks ago to my new place here that has a different vegetation (wet/grassy) than where we used to live (dry/pine/blackberry) but she has lived here before and I never noticed her eyes being red back then... Hay fever? as the heath of my bitch is often in late spring it might be more than a coincedence? L
Lennard 10
Quite some time after the original post...my bitch has been in heath again. And the white of here eyes was again definately more red during heath than when she is not...so I kind of rule out allergies or other factors. L
Guest ferreting king
could be hayfever or have you noticed it after you have taken your dog for a walk because if she was pulling on the lead then that would give bloodshoot eyes
Guest MOLLY
If its the same for dogs as it is women then perhaps her body temperature rises, causing the veins to to dilate. Or the sudden rise in oestrogen levels which can cause engourgment of soft tissue. MOLL.
Lennard 10
thanks Molly, I'll keep an eye on red eyes of human females...but most women close to me are on some kind of hormonal birthcontrol and only have red eyes through lenses or smoking L. Guest MOLLY
Womens eyes dont tend to go red when they are ovulating .....im just suggesting it may take this form with your bitch if the same physical changes happen with dogs as they do humans. MOLL.
Lennard 10
thanks again Molly, If it is a symptom of heath which it seems to be for my bitch I think it is strange that nobody else experiences the same with their bitches...oh well it keeps being nature I guess and my bitch is one of a kind L. Lennard 10
Just for the record. Black & white bitch is in heath again. Different surroundings again. Eyes are pretty red but not really conspicuous. L.
Lennard 10
Again, just for the record. Bitch's eyes are getting reddish again, combined with the bald patches she gets on her legs next to her "lower lips"...
