North Wales Hunter 6
Hi Gigs, Spirals are quick to install and fairly cheap. But Pans are homemade are cheaper I think and its easier for other animals eat out of them unlike the spirals (springs). Hope it helped ATB Jake Quote Link to post
cunninghamb 2
The springs are what I use, don't like the pans, only problem with the springs is the get bent and knackered when the deer are at them, but just takes to seconds to amend that. When I put hoppers out and spend a lot of time filling them and hand feeding I do it for the pheasant's and partridges, not for other animals, what's the point on wasting money on something that has no commercial value? perthshire keeper 1,239
we use both but have more trouble with blocking in pans but springs leak Quote Link to post
mikey 2
we seem to get through feed alot quicker with the spirals leaking and animals feeding of them so prefer the pan Quote Link to post
Capt Boo 2
I use both... Part of the Estate is open to the public, and when I used springs, I saw Joe Public walk up to a feeder, say "How does this work?" and wrench the spring to the point that the barrel emptied! So for the 'Public' areas, I use pans now. (We have Peafowl & Guinea Fowl in the public areas). Those areas where the Fee-Paying-Public aren't allowed, where I rear pheasants,I use springs.
