huge snails

ive noticed on some of my ground there are giant snails everywhere,i shit you not theyre 3 times the size of your common garden snail,is this unusual?can you eat em more importantly :laugh:

yip lovely collect them and when you have a few stick the in a container with some lettuce or cabbage leafs for a day or two to detox them boil in : some salted water take them out dry them off and drizzle some melted butter with garlic over them :drink::drink:

These snails are often called the Roman snail (Helix Pomatia), thought to have been brought over with the romans, the area of the cotswolds i was born in has a lot of these, this area was also an extremley major roman centre. These are the ones you pay a fortune for in french and italian resturants, known as escargot, Our common snail, which the french call petit gris, (helix aspersa), is equally edible, and personally my favourite, in the shell, tossed in melted garlic butter. :tongue4:

just detox them dont cook them eat em raw with warm garlic butter..,,mmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmm

raw?bit slimey mate :laugh:

dont knock till you have tried it...they slide down...bloody lovely... :laugh::laugh::laugh: therea bit gritty but dont let that put you off...damm fine them snails...dam fine....
