Lost Generation 93
I know the difference between a sparrowhawk and a kestrel and some years ago I saw a kestrel make a serious attempt to kill a jackdaw. I have also seen kestrels eat carrion including once teh frozen and a mashed up carcase of a fox on the side of the road during a period of snow and prolonged hard weather. If it was a kestrel it might just have killed the magpie or more likely it could have found it dead, eitehr way it's perfectly possible but by no means an everyday sight. Simoman 110
If it was a kestel then i have no doubt the magpie was already dead, a magpie would chop suey a kestrels ass without ruffling a feather imo.....

In his 18 years he is doing really well then Malt as he has seen 2 things now that probably only a hanful of people maybe see. A kestrel eating a magpie and a kestrel eating a poult. Sounds very much like a sparrowhawk but if he has looked it up then i shall believe him 110%.......keeping my eyes open now for the chance of seeing that... Dont think my comment earlier was smart arsey either.....

I saw a red kite, sparrowhawk, buzzard, kestrel, goshawk & peregrine falcon all in the space of a few days, and all within a few miles of each other last summer. Not many people have seen that either...
