Irish Lurcher 1,013
Due to the nice weather that was expected for yesterday we decided to give the Pike a lash. The venue was a large lake that had produced some good pike for us in the past, so it was with great excitement that we approached the waters edge. I fished the swim to the far left when a wee river runs into the lake, always found this spot to be a real producer of good pike, but how wrong I was to be. Two deads went send sky-ward, left hand rod was a popped up herring and a tail section of mackerel was the second bait. For nine solid hours we flogged this water with every known bait and lure, with just one small jack to show for our efforts, we have learned a very important lesson from this session. It soon became apparent that the reason for our shite day was down to this b*****d of a net that was hauled from the river some twenty yards in from the mouth of the lake. While nothing was found in the net, we think that it had just been laid before we arrived; fresh foot-prints and cig ends were in view on the ground. The net was about 50 yars long. I suppose we could all take a lesson from this session that we had, always check for any form of builders twine or bottle markers on the water, cos I can tell you one thing, we most certainly will when we fish our next water.
