secretagentmole 1,701
Got a small torch to go lamping with, well I did not know if I would get on! As we co caravanning as well I decided to get something dual use. I saw this online and decided to give it a go. Tesco Active LED Torch, 120 lumens. Power source is 2 x AA batteries, they say you should get a running time of over 5 hours (so far I have had over 4 hours from one set with no appreciable dimming). The beam is focusable for either something resembling a light sabre or a wide flood. If you keep the button pressed after switching on it dims, it is dimmable down to 10%. It is small enough to be velcroed under a barrel (thanks for that mother)... Weight is minimal and the build quality is great. Cost is £25 plus £5 delivery or collect from an extra store. This a high powered little torch that can be used for lamping and is very easy to change the batteries on too. It also flashes SOS if you press the on off switch twice in under 5 seconds so if you fall in a ditch you can flash like a distressed lighthouse and alert people where you are stuck! A feature that may be no use or some use, depends if you ever get in trouble I suppose! But all in all a good little torch which can be used to lamp! Quote Link to post
andyfr1968 772
Don't forget that if you're fitting a lamp to a springer, you'll have to re zero each time you take it on and off the gun. You may be better off with a good head torch Quote Link to post

Sorry If I am just strapping the torch to the barrel I can't see why, I mean that means I would have to re zero every time I reload. Unless you think the weight will affect the recoil! Of course! Time to get my mechanics head lamp out! Quote Link to post

I've even known springers with gun mounted lamps to need a re zero after a different brand of batterie's been used, they really can be that fussy. Quote Link to post
secretagentmole 1,701
No wonder I missed that frapping rabbit in the lamp light, well I have a good cap lamp, time to try a different course! andyfr1968 772
I use a Led Lenser H7 with a Cree 150 Lumens bulb. It has adjustable strength and beam width, it's very light and comfy to wear and I'll easily get at least a couple of full nights on a set of 3 AAA's. I've had it for about three years and I really can't fault it. £40 from ebay. Edit to say... I hope your Mrs gets well soon Edited February 24, 2011 by andyfr1968 Quote Link to post
secretagentmole 1,701
Thanks Andy, I have a small one, LED, don't know how bright, but for someone in his 40s I have damned good eyesight, so hopefully its AAs will be bright enough! The mrs says thanks for the get well soon wishes, she wants to be down there wielding her Diana, which is a nice gun. I will be back to my Stingray, or my beloved old Hatsan! Will try my mechanics cap lamp but will have the torch in my pocket too! Best of both! Edited to say someone in his 40s who has been diabetic for over 30 years!
