andyfr1968 772
Airsporter all day long, mate You'll have no problems with spare parts and they're a good solid old gun. Those old Relums were a bit ropey to say the least, very much made on the cheap but lots of folks have fond memories of them as many had them as a first gun. They can be improved but TBH, why bother? You can't polish a turd On both guns, check that the loading tap still seals OK, cock the gun with the tap closed, then open the tap and slowly de-cock the gun. If there's little or no air resistance as the piston goes back, there's trouble. May be the piston seal that's gone but the only way to find out will be to strip the gun. Cheers. Quote Link to post
pianoman 3,587
Remember them?!! My dear fellow I still have a .22 pellet lodged in my left cheek that was fired, over 40 years ago, by a Relum Tornado in the hands of my idiot cousin. I just thank God they were nothing like as powerful as sub 12ft/lb rifles and ammo are today. Simon Quote Link to post
secretagentmole 1,701
That's nothing Simon, my wife shot herself up the backside with a Westlake B2 and yes she was firing away from herself! Quote Link to post

That is truly astonishing 007. How did the good lady accomplish that? Somehow, I believe that could only happen to you Quote Link to post

That is truly astonishing 007. How did the good lady accomplish that? Somehow, I believe that could only happen to you She was aiming at a target board I had made that was 25 feet away across the garden, she missed the target, ricocheted off the fence post behind, to the fence that went along the back (we were firing diagonally down the garden), it ricocheted off that fence to the fence that came off the bungalow, off that fence, onto the wall, off the wall onto her backside. This led to her shouting "OW" and putting the gun down. I was impressed, I challenged her to do it again once I had picked myself off up the floor. It was like CSI in our back garden, examined the wall that was the last ricochet, then followed the course backwards to the first ricochet! Left a lovely bruise too. But my wife must be one of the few people to have shot herself up the backside firing the gun away from herself to a target 25 feet away! so it was about a 50 foot 4 ricochet shot, be damned lucky to pull off a four rebound shot at pool.... But messing about with that £30 plinker led to me coming back into the sport, we just went for better guns. Quote Link to post
Marksman 934
Have a look here for build quality mate......Stood for years in an allotment but still good enough to bring back to the way it is today.... http://www.thehuntinglife.com/forums/topic/146529-relum-tornado-refurbish/page__p__1481268__fromsearch__1#entry1481268 Any particular reason you are looking for an old rifle??? mikeyblue 28
Relum Tornado, absolute dog of a rifle, but I love em!!! Many fond memories of stalking through reeds on the moors as a lad, to get within the 20yds required for a humane kill! About three and a half tonnes in weight, and recoil like a Barret .50cal Mikey.
