Spent 8 years working at a factory in Hyson Green, prpoer shit hole, we had security for women working overtime as they got abused by prostitutes and their pimps, had our wages van shot up and robbed, saw assaults and robberies, awful place....... I had a shitty job that involved knocking on doors and asking for charity donations, I hated it but was desperate for money. 3rd shift was Hyson Green, I was threatened, offered drugs all sorts. Every door I knocked on I was expecting to get stabbed! A friend from Bullwell I know phoned me while on the shift, about digging the following day, I told him where I was and what I was doing and he simply said "Bloody hell! watch ya back youth, I used to work there and had to fend off several lads with my baseball bat". PROPER SHITHOLE!!! edited to add, I quit the job on that shift. The adrenaline pumping through by body walking back to my mates in sherwood at 11 at night was explosive! Walking through theri at night is an experience, funny i was telling stabba a couple of stories about the place the other night, i started working at the factory at 15 and by 18 i was 6"1, fit and into boxing, at the gym and as most teens thought i was Chuck Norris, remember playing football on a grassed area each lunchtime, one of the residents took exception, trouble was he was about 6 inches taller than me and twice as broad , he went in his house, we waiting for a machette or baseball bat but far dues the fella got the keys for the community centre and let us play in the grounds each lunchtime so there not all bad Quote Link to post Share on other sites
jf1970 328 Posted February 24, 2011 Report Share Posted February 24, 2011 i would have to say my home town on the southside of glasgow, i wouldn't say it's a shithole, but alot of the young population are, junkies,thiefs, muggers,housebrakers ect, no respect for themselves never mind their town. Whenever i go back over for a week or so i don't feel safe walking back home after a few pints. Alot of the lads i went to school with are either junkies or dead, sad really. I would say thats the same as everywhere now adays mate.... horrible bast...ds i agree with you russ, where i am now is a million miles away from there, no junkies and very little crime, if a car gets a window smashed it's on the front page of the local rag, long may it continue im in a similar area, not quite as innocent an area because we live only a few miles away from the prison but the crime rate is still fairly low. Lab 10,979 Posted February 24, 2011 Report Share Posted February 24, 2011 Dont think i have ever visited a place and thought..."What a f*****g shit hole".....but i did travel to Denmark a few years back to watch Celtic play Copenhagen and there football stadium was a disgrace. Went for a pish at half time and the stench from the toilets was unreal, and it wasn't just yer usual toilet smell either.... :sick: On the way back to my seat i counted numerous rat bait traps laid inside the stadium, shocking!!!.. Saying that Denmark on a whole was absolutely beautiful and i'd love to go back there again for a long weekend...... Quote Link to post Share on other sites
