Rats in mole runs

Recommended Posts

I have noticed quite a few old mole holes becoming more obvious recently and there are no moles anywhere near them. This is in an

orchard. So I wondered if rates took over the old runs and lived in them as they would have access to the whole of the run and it would give them good cover?

I can see the line of run on the grass where the run has caused the soil to slip a little to outline clearly the runs.

I've never come across rats living in mole runs. Judging by the size of some of the ones I see around it would be a tight squeeze. Field voles perhaps ?
