A few questions

morning lads

now of late i feel as though i'v been neglecting my s410, well dont feel have.

so i set about stripping her off last night and giving it a bit of a overhaul, clean polish new seals and the likes. did this about 6 monthes ago, but other than the end of shooting clean up i havent had the internals apart. :icon_redface: new gun, to many springer to repair, and the parker and hale dragon taking my little spare time up.

First questions is, i dry fired it untill the gun dumped its last bit of air out, just befor if droped down to low it started leaking air out of the barrel where the bolt go's in,(cant rember the proper name for this) i cant rember this happening befor.

the other question is my gadge on the gun (now seperate from the res) is still reading about 80 bar, have any of you had this befor??

now for the most shame full pic iv ever shown you.

i can'nt belive i have let my much loved and very faithfull 410 get like this, im so asshamed. take a look a the state of this.

i could have cried...

forget the springer's piston its just another part thats with me for a polish at work to day. (bleedin gammos)

any thoughts on the gadge reading, air leaking, as i say the air may have leaked last time i just cant rember, all the seals are in good condision, but im going to replace as full service any how.

thanks in advance lads.

When I have dry fired mine to empty it, it gases out via the barrel and somewhere else once it dropped below about 90bar, so I guess your gauge is just stuck and I wont bother tampering with it untill the guns back together and filled up again - carefully if the gauge is suspect.

Its been a while since I had mine in bits - the kind of 'in bits' you do when reverse engineering to see how it all works - balls to the wind with the factory warranty!

Whats all the staining? rust? corrosion? I would just give it a gentle wipe down and a coating of gun oil on the external surfaces (not 3-in-1 as this has a high salt content apparently.

I dont think you have neglected your gun maintenance mate, so chin up, plus my school of thought is - if it aint broke, dont fix it :)

cheers mate,

i couldent rember it gasssing out last time, but you have put my mind at rest there, the gadge is stuck about 80-90 bar mark.

was on the phone ordering parts for a few of the other repairs i have at the min and had a nice chat with the gunsmith there,he's a big air arms fan him self, was telling him about the gadge and he recons its just stuck,as i never let the gun go below 100bar, he has qiven me a few tips to unstick it, so happy about that.

regarding the hammer, there was some very light rust that wiped off befor the pics, the rest is staining from dirty oil and a little corosion. got it cleaned up now tho.

there was also little bits of oily water hiding under parts hear and there as i stripped it, witch kinda worries me, i now no the new s400 is haveing its tamper proofing taken out, as other wise it could be rusting to death inside and id never be able to do owt about it.

cheers for the replie pal

all the best

Guage is just stuck , it not un common in these rifles . I would`nt worry over the hammer , although you`ve done a good job of it  just make sure the inside is as clean as possible and same for the rail  . Seals are straight forward , just the transfer port seal can be easily mis-alligned . Any thing i can help with give me a shout , Buster
