STUNTMAN 552
Capps had the day off and called me in the am and wanted to go horse back some coyotes with the Stags. We loaded up Pepe and lil’Rip with the dogs and headed east into the BLM that hasn’t been hunted if at all this year. It was in the 20s with the wind blowing 25-30 mph with snow off and on... We headed west into the wind to give the Stags a good shot at smelling one. We rode for about an hour with ease on the Pasos just eating up ground. The snow was coming pretty hard and we duck behind a lava bluff to wait it out. Capps was dismounting and I looked at the crew who some had noses down and some winding. I looked past them just to see a coyote go over the lava bluff. I harked the dogs and it was on I turned Rip around and trotted the opposite way thinking the coyote would come around onto level ground. I didn’t get 10 feet and Capps and Pepe fly by me balls to wall and sure as shit the coyote popped out right in front Capps and the dogs turned him back to bluff. The rest was blurry but it was dogs taking spills on the lava Pepe trying to catch the coyote, coyote taking a spill and still getting away to go to ground in a rock den/small cave. We dismounted and tried to get to the coyote ourselves and Grill volunteered and went to ground and was met by a very pissed off coyote. Capps and I tried for over and hour while Grill barked bit, got bit as we chipped and moved rocks. I would call Grill a mixer/hard mixer HA HA. In the end we gave him a pass and called the Lurcher out. Next year I will have something for him when my two male terriers are older. It would have been text book! UN -digable, the terrier either would get it done or not but I can tell you the scenario would have check its oil for sure lol. Unloading-snow going sideways hiding from the wind Ground the coyote made the Stags pay Paso's hanging out by the den. Speedy with the lava rash Entrance Capps doing his MJ impression , one gloving it Grill pushing in Lil deeper Brownie trying Coyote saying hello 20ft from entrance trying anything to open a anothe hole Grill my 65lb mixer lol Lil Rip Quote Link to post

STUNTMAN 552
Whin - I really didnt understand the question, but I think you said what part of the BLM do we hunt? Any we can get on that wont tear up a truck of has to many fences. I think every sqaure inch of Idaho holds coyotes/fox or somthing for the big dogs to chase. Quote Link to post
