Rake aboot 4,936
Ey up Having been laid up for almost 2 weeks without a proper outing I decided to put the back to the test and get out for a walk around one of my newest permissions yesterday afternoon. Nearly the whole place is given over to livery, so plenty of grassland etc and some nice bankings, Bit muddy, but thats nags for you. After a quick check of the zero, I headed off for a stroll at around 1pm just to see what was hanging about. I walked along the banking and noticed 2 rabbits heading into the scrub around 25mtr in front of me, I managed to get down onto the versapod and got comfy, After around 15 min, there was no sign at the area in front ,but further on I caught sight of a lone rabbit sitting out preening. Lasered at 35 mtr I had to wait a min or so to get the clear shot. http://i366.photobucket.com/albums/oo102/brads67/duffis2011003.jpg Carried on for a wee bit and spotted another rabbit sitting out in the weak sun, having a snooze, I drew a bead and estimated the range this time , gave it a centre parting and watched it plod off to carry on sleeping in peace down it`s hole. Got the laser out and my estimation was out, Twat! shows what can happen when you`ve not been out enough,,or get to dependant on a RF. Around 100mtr along, I spotted 2 rabbits hopping along a wall line. One hit its burrow but the other one crossed through a break in the wall and sat right in front of me. Number 2 in the bag. All this had taken around an hour so I headed back to do the shopping I had been sent out for lol. I was coming back here tonight with a lurcher anyway so no need for numbers. All in all a nice wee walk ,and another couple in the freezer. ATB Here is another Permission of mine, went down this afternoon but the horses were playing silly buggers and would not leave me alone. 6 Quote Link to post

secretagentmole 1,701
Nice one Rake, nice write up, I am thinking of going down to my permission very early one morning, give the buggy bunnies a complex, trouble is the fields round by my permission have got the beginnings of the wheat crop showing through, so got a feeling most of the bunnies will be heading there at the moment, but going to change my method of attack and figure out how else to get them! Thanks for the replies blokes Do you go lamping Mole?? If not . try this anyway,, get out round your permission late on with a torch,, get a look at where the rabbits are going and the routes that they take back when bolting. Get a good allover feel for your permission ,and try not to over plan it mate,, get out for a VERY quite walk with nowt but the rifle, FIELDCRAFT!!! the art of being a super sneaky bugger, works better than anything else bud. secretagentmole 1,701
I have got a lamp, which is why I was down after dark last time, had a creep round too but due to incessant precipitation and fog, was next to bleeding useless! Try shooting in those conditions next time I am going with a harpoon gun, snorkel and my blasted echo sounder! Quote Link to post
