traps25 0
Hi there, I have an 18 month old rescue Saluki cross Lurcher who I recently took out lamping just to see what his prey drive was like. I borrowed a friends rechargeable lamp that firstly was quite dim and secondly the battery only lasted about 20 minutes. My dog seemed to know exactly what to do we sited the rabbits got them on the lamp and he was gone. He chased them but missed several times (he still hasn't got one) But my question to you all is what lamp should I get? I will be lamping with him quite a bit but want to keep it as cheap as possible, battery life is my main concern! Any tips would be greatly appreciated too. Many thanks Quote Link to post

Either wire a female cigarette lighter part to the battery (very temperamental) or cut off the cigarette lighter part and wire direct. Test the lamp in a car socket before doing any mods though. scalesntails 118
If you want to go really cheap then a £6 CREE headlamp from ebay will literally just about do the job in the smaller fields. You can also get magicshine lights meant for cycling up to 1200 lumens and can be head mounted or held as required. Never been stopped and questioned on the way to my permission with a headlamp. This is the other point. If you intend to lamp often as you say then spend the weekend knocking on your kindly local farmers doors and getting yourself some permission. Quote Link to post
