fensaluki 35
Stopped this weekend mate.Dug to a litter that nearly had their eyes open so thats me done till the new season.Although as has been said some people need to carry on and if thats the case then I recon ferreting has to be the best way as it not very often that you'll take a doe from a set and leave young in it.If she does happen to bolt and leave them there then there is a fair chance that your ferrets wont do the same so its better than leaving young in the nest to starve to death. Ideation 8,216
Stop ferreting even on land that needs rid of bunnies when it becomes a hassle, with little ones running in and out through the nets and the ferrets running about wasting time killing little hoppers, and the does fighting back and needing digging. If the rabbits need gone, do something else. Quote Link to post

All my places want them done all year so I`ve got plenty summer afternoon shooting days ahead.. ATB Quote Link to post

Ideation 8,216
Just in case some of he newer/younger lads dont figure it out - season lasts longer further north and higher you are due to temp. But it evens out cos on high ground etc you always lose some of the mid-season to the weather. Quote Link to post

Col_c88 41
ive got to do it all year round ive got 4 huge farms that i will NEVER clear the rabbits out (1 small farm with nothing on it.. think the farmer just wants company haha)... 3 of those farms im the only person allowed on them... theres alot of open ground so its not like i have trouble with over growth, however i do also shoot air rifles so i will start using the guns MORE in about a week or 2 but still takeing the ferrets out occasionally... I'm ferreting throughout, as per the posts this time last year. it needs doing, so it gets done, along with lamping and shooting. Quote Link to post
