lksopener 105
Dry Cat Biscuits or wet cat food if desperate. If your looking for other things, raw mince, eggs, fish (all available easy enough) If your out shooting, whole pigeons, crows, squirrels or anything else you can get. Don't get stuck just feeding them specilist ferret biscuits. They need meat and bone in their diet aswell. ATB Liam Quote Link to post
Ideation 8,216
Meat. If your desperate go into the nearest store and by some cheap chicken/turkey wings, legs, thighs, whatever. Quote Link to post
jambay5 191
I always used to feed mine liver!! 20 years ago now though, getting some ferrets in summer so will be watching this topic Quote Link to post
joe14 98
chicken wings/livers/mince cheap from supermarkets. Failing that dry cat biscuits will do for a short time (kitten if you can, it tends to have more protein). Quote Link to post
Joe67 239
if your feeding meat i guess you remove whats left the next day, cant leave it in there to long? are you guys feeding your ferrets once everyday, and how much?dont wanna feed to little or to much.. Quote Link to post
deck 35
dry cat food when you got no meat,a handfull would do a ferret easily for a day,i put two hand fulls in with three ferrets a day,in summer only put a small amount of meat in at a time and clear out daily flys everywhere otherwise,in winter can leave meat in longer with no problems Quote Link to post

ATB they may well live on it ,,,,, but why would you want them to,,, if your a ferrets are workers there no excuse you should have a ready suply of bunnys. personly i dont see how a biscut made up of cereals can have what a ferret needs, no matter how much protien they add or vitamins,, its still cereal, and dont digest the same. i think people belive the advertising on the pacaging to much Quote Link to post
Rake aboot 4,935
Not really All my ferrets get rabbits and dry food plus whatever else I get for them ,squirrel ,pidgeon etc. And I have had a couple that just ate the dry food, wouldn`t touch a rabbit when it was put in front of them. Simple fact,, had ferrets for 23 years and only a couple (2) have done this , but there you go. And as for why would you want to ! does averybody with a lurcher feed meat to the dog ? no I don`t think so. 90% will be on complete meal,,exactly like giving complete meal to a ferret Quote Link to post
ferret lady 73
Liver once twice a weeks fine anymore and it can cause a vitamin D ? deficiency Too much liver can create a Vitamin A toxicity. However, recent research has shown that ferrets can utilize much more Vitamin A than previously thought. It's much easier to overdose Vitamin D. Quote Link to post
