Best first lurcher ?

Recommended Posts

What would you guys say is best first lurcher ? For the purpose of a pot filler with things like rabbits, looking for a mooch about in the day and also to be lamping.

My mate says something like a whippet crossed with a beddy/whippet.

Also have read collie x greyhound are great first dogs ?

What about something like a collie/grey x beddy/whippet ? Anyone work these ?

Dont want a dog that is massive lol

Also what type of things would you use them on, pre ban of course ? Would they pull down say a fallow ? ;)

Have had and trained a labrador for picking up and a springer spaniel, not to an amazing standard but good enough for some wild fowling n rough shooting :)

couple of pics of mine 3/4 whip 1/4 beddy and jack russel good little dogs and nice easy dogs to keep. A bit on the small side obviously for bigger stuff but good fun for mooching and ferreting ( she's only young so next season will know more about lamping)easy to train and if your not kenneling them nice dogs in the house.

alreet mate

i'm no expert on lurchers but i've had a couple and my first one was a beddy/grey x beddy/whippet

and she's a crackin little bitch, done everything i could ask of her and more,

if i was you i'd steer clear of anything with saluki in it

bit too head strong for your first lurcher
