lampingkid 56 Posted February 18, 2011 Report Share Posted February 18, 2011 to all i was wandering how to make a 25 yard quick set just for ferreting because my dads pal has done it it took him a month and a bit so i am going to try it but i dont know how to start it. am gonna use spun nylon. all use my needle and mesh board is 2 inch but do i start it on a ring or what and how many meched dwn and long. if anyone can help it would be grate daryl Quote Link to post
Leeview 791 Posted February 18, 2011 Report Share Posted February 18, 2011 to all i was wandering how to make a 25 yard quick set just for ferreting because my dads pal has done it it took him a month and a bit so i am going to try it but i dont know how to start it. am gonna use spun nylon. all use my needle and mesh board is 2 inch but do i start it on a ring or what and how many meched dwn and long. if anyone can help it would be grate daryl When you start cast your first row onto short loop of draw cord about 12" knotted in a loop,this goes on your hook in the wall.14 meshes deep plus a selvedge top and bottom(these are added when your nets knitted and these being heavier(double thread) take the strain from the net on the top and bottom lines)90 rows will give you 10yds of net now halve that and you have 5yds with 100% bagging which is what you need to be looking for in a good net Chances are you wont get it finished for this season and you may do a couple more before next season it may seem daunting to start but once you start they're very addictive and excellent bit of kit in the field Good Luck Y.I.S Leeview Quote Link to post

Yes just cast on to the loop as though it's a ring, when you done a good few rows take the loop of of the ring and undo the knot and draw it out of the row you cast on it next thread this back through an already finished row further down your net tie it again and put it back on the hook and carry on and keep repeating A word of caution DONT keep counting how many rows you've done until you've done 3 or 4needle full of knitting Good Luck Y.I.S Leeview Quote Link to post
