bud9 79 Posted February 18, 2011 Report Share Posted February 18, 2011 me and rm2508 of the site went and looked at a couple of earths so we went to the first earth and my old dog was keen to get to ground so i new thare was someone at home so i put the bellman coller on him and of he goes within a few minutes he was baying this was a good sign we had 2 young bitches my choc bitch and rm2508 black/tan bitch within no time out comes old fox it was a vixen and the old dog comes out and right back to ground and baying again we thought good news so about 10 minutes later another fox bolts but gets away we were abit pissed off but these things happen so we head off to the second earth and the dogs are keen to get to ground again and yes we were on again and we dig down and my old dog is siting close and we pull him out dispatch of the vermin and let the young dogs in and are very keen i dont think i will have any problem with her doing her job and rm2508 bitch was showing very good intrest aswell so a good result rm 2508 will put pics up later Quote Link to post

RossM 8,119 Posted February 18, 2011 Report Share Posted February 18, 2011 aye first fox was dispatched less than 20 yards from where she bolted second fox bolted at bottom of the earth and had a good start afore chance was had to do owt although it did almost dispatch itself when it ran headfirst into a post! i genuinely thought it had k.o'd itself but it got up and was out of sight as it jumped the burn, third had to be dug too and was a fair size. tearem 31 Posted February 18, 2011 Report Share Posted February 18, 2011 Yes, we here hardly ever work for ourselves but as exceptions, usually we and the terriers are invited for the day by the guns of a certain hunt, and we do all the earths there present that day for as far as we get, and bolt as many for them as possible. But if they miss or even worse, hit but he is away, I always need a special trained terrier at hand to track after it. That and the boars, is why our terriers need noses like hounds....
