Bullcat 12
Things seem to be getting better for the humble ferret here, but there is still a lot of unwanted jills around in july/aug ,the vet told me to keep him out of the main run for 6 weeks ,its a week today he was done and is still tender Bullcat you never said about the dangers ferrets face in the land of venomous spiders and snakes Sorry mate, thats what I also meant with regards to snakes, when I stated; "I know a lot of guys over here hunt with ferrets throughout the year as ferrets are extremely cheap to buy over here. But these same guys go through a sh!t load of ferrets in a year. Due to ferrets being cheap to buy, we also dont use locators like you do in the UK, or its very rare that anyone does". I know a guy that lost half a dozen ferrets in a month due to snakes. But then again, I also know another guy that hasnt lost one to a snake this summer. I`ve seen a ferret put down a burrow and come straight out, tail all bushed up. Didnt last too long after that. Another time (this was in the autumn) I put a ferret down a burrow, it kept coming out within seconds of me putting it down there. Did this a couple of times, then a big brown snake reared up at me. Luckily I had a .410 with me, and managed to shoot it. So as you can see, snakes are a real pain in the butt in summer. Quote Link to post
