andyfr1968 772
On a springer, yes. On a PCP or Co2 there's not much point Quote Link to post
fazerman 3
On a springer, yes. On a PCP or Co2 there's not much point sorry andy forgot to mention on a springer,is it because its less likely to move along the rails.?? Quote Link to post
andyfr1968 772
Yes it is, mate. TBH there's not really that much difference so long as it's decent quality kit but you do get a little more grip on the rails with a one piece. fazerman 3
ive not had any movement problems yet with 2 piece mounts but i might get a 1 piece just to make sure no future movement occurs, thanks for you quick replys buddy. Quote Link to post
andyfr1968 772
If it's not broken, don't fix it If what you've got kitted up with now isn't giving you grief, leave it be. No point spending cash you don't have to. Quote Link to post
ghillies 209
in theory on a springer one scope ring can move into the other one buggering the tube... one peice cant bunch up. they do 'feel' better to me........... Quote Link to post
Alan Clark 7
Beyond there not being much point using them with PCP, is a lot of PCPs can't take single piece mounts because of things like the pellet mag that sits in the middle of the rail. I briefly looked at a single piece but it was 10cm long and even the front portion of the rail on mine is only 7.5cm long. Quote Link to post

pianoman 3,587
For my tuppence worth. All my rifles are recoiling springers, including FAC tuned HW80 which can wreck a cheap scope. I've used 2-piece Sportsmatch double-screw clamp mounts for years on all my rifles and never had a single problem of movement with any of them. The beauty of the two piece mount is the fact you can adjust the spacing between them on the length of scoperail, to better ballance the weight of the scope, with the weight of the rifle to maintain good overall ballance at the shoulder and forehand. Single-piece mounts do not give you this degree of control; other than a firm clamp-up on the rifle. Simon Quote Link to post
