Lloyd90 509
my mate in work from South Wales owns a Lurcher called Dixie, this Lurcher was champion of champion of many counties in the UK, hes got a wall cover in trophies and ribbons that the dog won. I have recently took a interest in lurchers and have a good chat to him about them. He is very proud of his dog and showed me the pictures, also he showed me a copy of Country Mans Weekyly from 2002 which he kept which featured his dog and some of his achievements. Just wondering if anyone heard of him ? I think I read he came from a lurcher called "Floyd" ? Supposedly the best lurcher to come out of wales ? just interested to hear what you have hear, I think he was a greyhound/saluki/deerhound/collie, in his bloodlines. Quote Link to post

He is still alive but is very much retired now. Quote Link to post
boyo 1,398
floyd and dixie both very nice dogs but their reputation was in the show ring and racing not out in the feild. no both the owners real nice blokes Quote Link to post
Bootsha 1,306
There was a very nice dog called floyd that I judged in several showS, held a record for long jumps if my memory served me right, mostly white with mottled patches on him, owned by P.J from down that way, may not be the same dog, if it was, he was a beautifuull stamp of a dog, always shown in immaculate condition and by his owner PJ, who was as any exhibitor should be, very informative, polite and courteous. Might be a different dog, if it is, i'm taliking thru my arse, again ATB B Quote Link to post

barney007 17
Floyd wasnt the father of Dixie, i believe it was a dog called Chant, also owned and bred by PJ Quote Link to post

boyo 1,398
and floyd wasnt the best high jumper in wales at the time either cos my bitch gemma was beardie xborder back to greyhound she beat the then british high jump fecord held on the downs in bristol her and a rough dog called murphy both broke the record that day and held it for quite a while.not knocking floyd in any way though cos he was a cracking dog as was dixie but best dog to come out of wales biggest load of bollox ive heard .and legends are made in the feild in my book not on the show ground . Totallyagee Bosun A dog could be the best looking animal in England, be a champion jumper but unless it can catch a few bunnies on a night out it ain't worth a carrot, just my opinion Quote Link to post
moggs 18
Had a pup out of Dixie years ago. Seen the video of him down the track pissing all over pure greyhounds, didn't seen him work but my mate knew the owner very well and used him on his bitch. My bitch wasn't the best but had a mental turn of pace and would try all day long for you. Lacked size though to tackle bigger stuff. Has Nigel still got Dixie? By all accounts a very good worker and a real smart dog. Quote Link to post
baldockbanks courser 598
I ant come acroos many hight jumps out in the feild myself. What do the rossets taste like do you stew them? ? all them shows are fixed the judges are usually show buddies with the winners. Quote Link to post
Lloyd90 509
Yer well lads like to see some of the things you have won ? Or is everyone all talk, seems alot of people here are eager to put others down yet have little to show for themselves. Regardless I have seen evidence and know that not only was this dog good in shows and races but was regulary worked out in the field and caught plenty of game Dont see why some people trying to belittle the dog anyways ? Was just curious about a dog of my mates Quote Link to post
