rodge 4
rodge how would u tell the diffrens between a good working lurcher and a show pony kept in good shape just wondering I WAS WAITING FOR THAT TO GET ADDED TO Thats a good question if a lurcher is obiviously in good shape at a WORKING lurcher show you would assume that alot of this is down to work and hunting its been giving, not to say it should not be in as good of shape if i wasnt a working dog.But as Sounder said its a working terrier and lurcher show. terrierone 32
Firstly you can never keep all happy no matter what you do ,, people argue all time about such things as classes ,, ie rough patts , smooth patts, red lakies, black lakies, as we all know ,,, good show in my view plenty for kids, good food, toilets , stalls the more the better,, and honest judging,,, plenty crack with all,,,, plus a few beers for some,,,, thats my view ATB T1

Simoman 110
Ray, some good ideas, one thing i would say is many smaller shows put on far too many classes which spreads the dogs too thinly. Some activity for the kids, ferret racing has been mentioned, racing depending on the location. One thing that rarely gets mentioned is dog shit, its really boils my piss when morons let there dogs shit all over the place, don't pick it up and kids get it all over there shoes and clothes, i'd glady rub the dirty fuckers face in it, the owners not the kids...........but thats just me
true countryman 0
in addition to what has already mentioned ferret racing for the kids (and the big kids) no "pet" dog classes no cash prizes, instead practical prizes. good working dog related stalls somewhere to get a decent cuppa for fair money or even free reasonable price to get into show/gamefair, not rip-off prices like some gamefairs. I agree with some of the points here but you can't compare stand alone lurcher/terrer shows with gamefairs. Gamefairs represent the vast majority of all the different country sports disciplines out there and therefore to appeal to that number of people they will be much larger, have a multitude of stalls and no doubt extremely expensive to run. See how long your free tea's last as your show numbers grow.
scent 509
digging competition maybe ,judges from outide the area, activities for kid ,hot food stalls, toilet facilities and of course a bar .Maybe even a few strong dog classes Edited February 17, 2011 by scent
redcharge 378
well lads just a bit of info, If you were running a working terrier and lurcher show or was going to one what would you like to have/see there, ect for kids , breeds, stalls,or even to improved a show in your honest opinion, no smart answers please any help would be great, atb sounder AS you said sounder a working terrier and lurcher show therefore id like like to see working terrier and lurchers been judged by proper lads that know a good working dog not someone judging show ponies,i think it would draw more attention to the show ring watching proper dogs been shown.Just mt thought. littlefish 585
A picnic area with plenty of bins and no dog shit, maybe a wee bit of music to help the atmosphere.
