Recommended Posts

Thought some of you might be interested to see some pictures of my dogs down at the race track last Summer.
There were 4 dogs in this race - mine came 1st and 2nd but Luna went so wide on the bends (!)she looks like she's racing by herself in the pic!

Luna (20months)

EDITED 26TH FEB TO SAY: HAD CONFIRMATION TODAY THAT IT WILL START UP 20TH MARCH - AFTER THAT IT WILL BE FIRST SUNDAY OF EVERY MONTH FOR THOSE IN THE NORTH WEST WHO MIGHT BE INTERESTED. THEY GIVE YOU TIMINGS OF RACES AND THERE IS A GUY TAKING PICS (LIKE MINE BELOW) WHICH ARE REASONABLY PRICED TOO.

Are they Grews?

I'm hoping to do this with my pup when she's older, good pics mate

Gyp is 1/2 greyhound, 3/8th whippet, 1/8th deerhound (so pretty much a Grew - LOL)

Luna is 1/2 greyhound, 1/4 deerhound, 1/4 bull.

Its good fun - once a month and gives the dogs a good burn off.

Good luck with yours.

i take it thats down at ystrad track fella ...........

Its Ellesmere Port Greyhound track mate. Once a month (usually first Sunday of month) in the Summer the Afghan club hire it out for them to have a lollop about (LOL - its actually really funny to watch them!) but they let lurchers/terriers and other breeds race too. Its a good laugh and sometimes you can have a mix of breeds racing and choose different length races - eg my lurchers have raced pure salukis over longer distances etc.

Just looked up and it runs March to November.

thanks for that will take them in march it might help them to mix with other dogs

Nice one. Will PM you time and date - it ususally starts about 1pm. Was £1 to get in and then £1- £3 per race depending on the lenght of race (might have changed now)

Also, if you are running with other dogs - you'll need to bring some muzzles mate, if you just want to run yours together or on their own then they don't usually make you muzzle them.

Cheers.

 • 2 weeks later...

Can you go with your dog and just watch? Mines too young but wouldn't mind watchin a few races.

Yes mate you can - but if you don't want to endure the afghan racing (!!!) then I'd come abit later - about 2ish - most of it should be over by then.
