jonnygray 139
Hey guys, I just took on a new whippit pup from a friend to break to ferrets and train up on a long term loan. hes 5 months old and done nothin. took him ferretin with my older bitch on sun just for a look and to meet the stinkers and he was spot on got his mouth round a few dead bunnies and chased a dragged one like a demon so high hopes for him. now his last ribs on either side seem to stick out around 1/2 inch compared to all his others and when feelind them they seem to be short and turned inwards at the bottom excessively. this does not seem to bother him and they are not painfull to touch. has anyone come across this or have any idea what causes it. jonny Quote Link to post

Guest chook
That last rib is normal on all dogs, just some stick out more than others like has been said its called a floating rib, because it dosent attach its self to the sternum like the rest do - humans have one or two aswell. shepp 2,285
My collie greys last rib jutted out on one side for the first two years now it is almost as flat as the other side. I can't see it being due to close breeding because my bitch is not bred close at all. Quote Link to post
