whippet pup strage ribs.

Recommended Posts

Hey guys,

I just took on a new whippit pup from a friend to break to ferrets and train up on a long term loan. hes 5 months old and done nothin. took him ferretin with my older bitch on sun just for a look and to meet the stinkers and he was spot on got his mouth round a few dead bunnies and chased a dragged one like a demon so high hopes for him.

now his last ribs on either side seem to stick out around 1/2 inch compared to all his others and when feelind them they seem to be short and turned inwards at the bottom excessively. this does not seem to bother him and they are not painfull to touch. has anyone come across this or have any idea what causes it.

cheers bunnys, dont know his breeding at all but where my mate got him it wouldnt suprise me if he was quite closely bred, i dont want him to breed from and will be having his nuts gone shortly as i want no accidents with my bitch.

That last rib is normal on all dogs, just some stick out more than others

like has been said its called a floating rib, because it dosent attach its self to the sternum

like the rest do - humans have one or two aswell.
