Blacksheep 6 Posted February 17, 2011 Author Report Share Posted February 17, 2011 no probs mate glad you got it sorted' good to see you finally got some more permission' do you still shoot the other land mate all the best adam Yep mate , still on the original farm plus the one i just got is actually 3 farms as 2 of his neighbouring farms have asked if i can look after them as well, also have acres of corn to keep the pigeons off in the summer . better get a 223 now i think if i can find a mentor Dyfed Powys insist on it now for a first centrefire no matter how much experience you have. foxbasher 0 Posted February 18, 2011 Report Share Posted February 18, 2011 The problem is the Farmer " thinks " that the land is cleared as he had a shooting club on it up until recently , but he does not know for sure . As i have a closed FAC i have to be certain that i can shoot there , unfortunatly he is Lambing this week so really needs me up there ASAP . The annoying thing was the womans attitude in the firearms dept . Dyfed-Powys do seam to drag they're feet when you need to find out if a certain piece of land has been cleared. This gave me just the reason to request an 'open license' off them. Word of mouth will travel if you do a good job for a land owner-next door farm may well ask for your services at short notice. My letter explained that it took so long to verify that land had been cleared that the land owner would get someone else to get the job done-thus resuling in missed shooting opurtunities for me. Dyfed powys are a bunch of numties when it comes to thing like that..think ive spoken to that woman before..not very helpful..even when one of the farms i was asking about was already on my licence for .22! she even told me i couldnt have a open licence as i wasnt a pest controller...!? i just laughed at her and said id speak to someone else.
