perthshire keeper 1,239 Posted February 14, 2011 Report Share Posted February 14, 2011 yes dont get your fingers trapped! realy thou make shure no soil gets under the plate if the traps to big dig it down dont alter the roof of the hole make shure the plate is levle with the ground or slightly above a rabbit wont step into a dip peg them down very well its not just the rabbit your holding its the fox trying to steal the rabbit too if you realy want to do damage to numbers fill il all the hole then trap the ones that are open out and remember to take the safty catch off many a rabbit had be saved by this Quote Link to post

The one 8,529 Posted February 14, 2011 Report Share Posted February 14, 2011 Aye check the trap fits the hole or scrap some soil off the roof till its a good fit . dig out a hole till the trap will sit in it then i secure the trap into the scrape and place the trap on top of it Then cover it with soil preferable the stuff youve scraped out as long as its not full of stones then i remove the saftey catch with the marker pin and put the marker above the burrow Quote Link to post

All three had rabbit fur on them.What am i doing wrong?Caught three two days before,whats changed?Your thoughts please,catchings one thing,but have no desire to cause injury!!! Quote Link to post

perthshire keeper 1,239 Posted February 15, 2011 Report Share Posted February 15, 2011 ike he said when you dig the bed out for the trap put it in sprung and se how it looks the trap wants to be just inside the overhang of the hole if you look you may se a padded bit where they put their feet kind of like a beat on a run. the trap must just fit in the hole i like about 1/2 to 1/4 inch of space on top of the trap.
