wuyang 513
Both will do the job and both have there own followers. Have you thought about a 1/4 collie 1/4 greyhound 1/2 whippet? just a thought. Quote Link to post
mexlad 189
if i was after a beddy/whippet i would go for 3/4 whippet 1/4 bedlington or pups from proven beddy/whippet sire and dam. Quote Link to post
Gaz_1989 9,539
Are you after lamping rabbits? Ferreting? Mooching? Gaz Quote Link to post

Gaz_1989 9,539
Its gonna be down to your preference then mate. Most lurchers will enjoy a bit of mooching and do you proud. Personally I just don't like beddys. Don't like collie cross either. But thats just me. A beddy whip would be sound for what you want. So would a pure whippet. I love a nice workin whippet. I've got a sal/whip/grey. He is such a character and a great loyal dog. Stubborn as feck. But great all the same and very intelligent. Everyone will make different suggestions mate. Ideation 8,216
Either. Good whip will do all a beddy/whip will. A 3/4 might have a better coat than a pure, but might lose a tad of pace. Your call mate - depends on what the best litter was - i'd worry less about specific breeding and more about finding a good working strain. Quote Link to post
ernesto 30
all your infomation is great i think looking hard and not rushing in, is what ill do. thanks about mentioning pure working whippet this is what i was edging towards.plenty of looking and listening is order of the day.hope i havnt bored you with to much reading thanks. Gaz_1989 9,539
Its refreshing to see someone thinking about what dog they want. And whilst, correctly, alot of people say worker-worker is the way to go, I don't think it is unreasonable to want a particular breeding or "look". If you do go down the pure whippet line then go for genuine workers, there are some crackers out there. Good luck, Gaz. Quote Link to post

Gaz_1989 9,539
Let us know how you go on. I wanted a beddy whippet for years, then decided on pure whippet, then came across whippet/grey and thought the extra size would come in handy. Then I got offered a sal/whip/grey pup which I couldn't resist. He is my first lurcher and 5 months old. Hoping he makes a good all rounder. Gaz Quote Link to post
