Guest Lurcherbitch
Went missing in a case like this? Just wondering what you would do in the case of Tag, If it was your dog. If you havent read it.... here it is.I hope. http://www.thehuntinglife.com/forums/index...showtopic=17347. Its in lost & found if it doesnt come up here. Peakhound & myself have had many a conversations, pm's, texts, ect. about what to do. some brill advice, constructive help and personal opinions. I have been in rescue and more.... for over 12 yrs and have caught every dog i was after (unless found dead). But have never come across a case like this. What if he never goes in the trap & we cant get hold of him? Baring in mind, Tag lived in the country side among sheep horses and chucks. He used to sit in the padock watching peakhound muck out horses,Was brill off lead for 7yrs and often went fell running with mr peakhound. Catching the odd bunny or two. ( just to give you an idea of his life style) PS. sat up trying to smoke all my cigs as am giving up in the morning. Edited January 25, 2007 by Lurcherbitch
Guest Macnas
Best of luck with the cigarettes, give them up for me too while you're about it. About the dog, thats a tough one. A stray wouldnt have lasted as long here as Tag has. But I think I'd do my best to get him back home.
skycat 6,174
I had a dog that had been living feral for nearly a year: he had to be caught in a trap made from a tent, as he'd been scavenging round campsites: the dog warden rigged up a goal net and hid in a nearby tent ready to pull the string to trap him: it worked, but the dog went ballistic when he was trapped, shitting himself, biting everything near him. Then he went into shock. 24 hours later you would never have thought it was the same dog: he behaved just like any normal domestic dog, and remained that way for the rest of his life. He came out hunting with us, came when called, and in fact was the most soppy lurcher you could imagine: he was probably Whippet/Grey by the looks of him. Pretty good stamina considering his probable breeding and I ran him on the fens: never the greatest catch dog in the world, but a nice dog and easy to live with. Don't give up hope: the fact that he has survived this long is a good sign: I just wish I was nearer to give you a hand!

FastDogz 155
Wow i think about this lot.. If my boy went missing - a part of me would be missing also .he is my heart and soul dog Apart from the usual, calling all cop shops, rescue centres, dog wardens, vets ect, posters everywhere.searching 24/7 and a very big reward for his safe return ..id contact papers, radio and local news. Id do all this while sobbing my heart out - smoking myself to death imagining the worse But i hope and pray i will never loose him - he is chipped - ID Tagged and never allowed off leash anyway because he isnt allowed a heavy run (due to ligament and tendon damage while racing) - everytime he is sound a run brings him back lame again Good luck with the ciggys LB - thinkin of you and Tag * hugs *

Guest peakhound
I s'pose the question is what would you do if you knew he was still about, but there is absolutely no way to get near him... Having to face the possibility that we may never get Tag back, because we just can't catch him. What would you do then?
FastDogz 155
Not very informative or helpful but i would just keep trying and never give up hope
Guest Ditch_Shitter
There is absolutely no way to get near him ... Having to face the possibility that we may never get Tag back, because we just can't catch him. Keep The Faith! Tag's doing what he's good at - Surviving. Wheels are in motion. Ye won't Need to " Get near him. ". He's Good. That's Good! But ~ as I always tell my own Dogs; " I have adiposable thumbs. I'll Win, sukka's! " I have an e mail to answer. Hang on in there! Guest baldie
You need someone with a tranquiliser gun. Try the firearms dept in manchester, they will know who is holding one locally, or the local vet, as the tranquiliser is a drug that can only be obtained with a signature from the vet. Already tried it. Trying to get vet, firearms & dog in the same place at the samt time is pretty much impossible . Edited January 31, 2007 by Lurcherbitch
