sheer disobediance?

Recommended Posts

my 16 month lab is taking the piss recently, he knows the commands, such as recall, stop whistle and to turn on the whistle but hes alright at that.

i know he knows what hes ment to do as he has days were he dose them each time. but other days he takes no notice or reeeeeally delayed responces.

knowing my dog i think hes just pushing his boundries and seeing what he gets away with, or is it something else?

dose he just need put in his place? any methods you find works?

advice/help would be appreciated

My lab is the same, I reckon from being spoilt, with me she has to listen but my family take her out and dont reinforce the commands so she takes the P*ss.

Then she tries it on with me to see if she can get away with it.

Is your dog kennel'd or a house dog ?

When I had her in the kennel she was much sharper on commands and listened alot better.

Bloody family keep bringing her in the house though :wallbash:

Without a doubt they try it on sometimes, I know she knows the commands as she does them flawlessly for me at times. Then other times she just ignores em totally :(

My advice is to do go back to one thing, sit and stay or what ever and just make sure every time you say it make sure the dog does it. I find you have to be a real d**k and dont let it get away with anything.

how do you punish the dog when it does bad? maybe you need to think about stepping it up

bigthug87: hes in the kennel and im the only one who walks him.

bobba_fett: senario: if he pisses off i catch him and give him a smack, but if he comes back befor i get him i praise him.

the problem is hes reeealy thick skinned, like hes had some hidings for chasing rabbits, but he just gets up and acts like nouts happened, and then he'l do it again the next day! :wallbash:

Agree lab.If you give the dog a comand like sit/stay down make sure its done.If it take you all day.A lot get it to a stander. Then think thats it job done.Bullshit you have to keep at it for at least four or five years. Some times even longer. If a dog thinks it can take the piss it will.So more training less stress.
