Boysie 12
And of course God's own Country, Co Durham. It's probably easy to say Weardale and Teesdale is the same as the Yorkshire Dales, but they just seem so much more homelier and 'nicer' than the Yorkshire Dales. Hopefully getting myself a house and some land in Weardale, that would be a dream.

dogs-n-natives 1,182
I've travelled over almost all of England, Wales and Scotland, never Ireland unfortunately but what are your favourite places and why....... For me i love my home county of Lincolnshire, we have the rolling wolds, the coastline and the wide open fens, I love walking the dogs on a remote beach in a summer evening and swimming in the sea, visiting country pubs and somehow the pace of life seems slower here. I also love East Anglia, very similar to Lincolnshire and it has a relaxed feel and holds good memories. Scotland, and sorry my Caledonian cousins but for me Scotland starts at Perth , I have always found the highlands, especially around Inverness and Sutherland holds a magical quality and when im there i totally relax and switch off, seeing the huge herds of red deer, eagles soaring above the snow capped mountains and walking through remote glens and forests with the dogs, just solitude and nature... In Wales i love the south as again its quiet, has strong traditions and scenery, North Wales holds childhood memories, my dad was born in Bethesda near Bangor and we spent caravan holidays there as a child..... What about yours...... I also have a soft spot for my home ground, and especially, the cheviot hills, and tynedale in northumberland, I miss the area when im away from it for any length of time haha.... The hguge expanses of fells and forestry, lots of walking and lots of wildlife... its great. I have also spent years in Invernesshire, and Ross/cromerty hunting deer, and Il always have a liking for the highlands. Wales is also a place that has good hunting memories, foxing with the terriers, and following hounds... Ive also lived in the lake district, and followed the hill packs there, those hills have a character of their own. I also like visiting the south of England, I can tell they get a good bit more sun, and summers down there to me, are almost like being abroad on a sun seeking holiday, I also like to see the fallow deer which are not numerous in my area
