OldTrapCollector 377 Posted February 23, 2011 Report Share Posted February 23, 2011 That's a nice one - what a shame it is out in all weathers, and that rusty horseshoe on it won't help it either ... It will be a late 1800's fox and badger trap - although they are often called (and could be used as) man traps - the idea was that the animal would pick up a bait attached to the plate of the trap and be head caught rather than it be a foot hold trap as you might expect. Out here in the African boondocks, gin traps with interlocking spikes are in widespread use despite being totally illegal.
