ulverston moocher 60 Posted February 10, 2011 Report Share Posted February 10, 2011 I have a big silver job if you try to grab him he instantly turns around to bite and he is 2year old and handeled several times a day if you put your hand down and let him get on him self you can do anything with him some ferrets just have strange ways that you have to get used to just trust her and be confident even if it hurts a few times she will get there just don't be hesitant with her you will just freak her out. dave1600d 35 Posted February 10, 2011 Report Share Posted February 10, 2011 give her some grub then when she gets a mouthfull pick her up and talk to her n stroke her,,,,she wont let go of the food and it should give you a good opportunity to stroke her and become familiar with her,,my son did that to a biting jill i found last december and she was fine after a while,,try not to show her youre scared or nervous,,good luck mate,, Quote Link to post

Patience and gentle handling,, a bit of play as well !! let her nip a bit and she`ll chill out and play. Spit in your hand and let the ferret lick it as well,,calms them down. When you pick her up,, be confident,,lift her and have a good hold,,,control the ferret,but don`t hurt her. Keep at it mate. I have one that works no prob without any hassle,,but when we play she nips HARD! so she gets pinned and slid across the floor!lol she loves it, but the nip is just part of her nature, she`s not young and TBH ferret bites don`t bother me,, I think more people just get a fright and imagine it to be sorer than it really is ATB Quote Link to post
