This has nothing to do with your post, mabey a little. I hunted with one many years ago and he was alright. He was a little more independent than the BC Xs but made up for it with endurance, but I'm going off one dog though. What made me respond to this thread was a friend invited me to his ranch this past weekend after hunting to watch his Kelpies work. While there he had what he called Fuzzy's locked up. I asked Him "what are these" went on to explain a certain type of herding/catch dog for cattle that he uses on his range cows. They looked just like a beardie. They looked to be tuff lilttle dudes.

THERE ARE STILL GENUINE WORKING BEARDIE TYPES IN THE AVIEMORE, INVERNESS AREA. I HAVE SOME PICTURES OF BEARDIE CROSSES WHICH I WILL SCAN & PUT UP. THERE WAS ALWAYS THE DEBATE FROM YEARS BACK THAT BEARDIE CROSSES WERE A TAD MORE HEADSTRONG THAN A BORDER COLLIE TYPE. PERSONALLY I NEVER SAW ANY DEFINITIVE PROOF EITHER WAY.,ALTHOUGH THE BORDER COLLIE X WAS & IS THE MOST POPULAR, THE MAJORITY OF BEARDIE OR BEARDIE/BORDER CROSSES AROUND WERE MORE OFTEN THAN NOT HANCOCK BRED

The mate had a beardie x and border x,he reckoned the beardie x was more headstrong/demanding,the border x was a bit skittish though, both hancock,my own dug is half border bred from a working collie, she doesn,t seem to be as highly strung as some types
