J Darcy 5,871
Had an hour out today with the HW77 that i have been trying to customise. Im not happy with the blueing we have done, and i will be going over it all again with more coats as it has started to go a little brown and looks poor, to be perfectly honest. Today was the first trip out with the gun with new stock and safety catch and she felt good. Firstly a jay made a big mistake and landed within 15 yards of where i was stood watching out for a rogue squirrel that beats me every time. Well, he beat me again, but i dropped the jay. Ten minutes later and a group of three squirrels are seen chasing each other in the big oak trees. Lovely, thinks I and the dog and I make an approach. These critters were trying that hide and seek method where they are always round the other side of the tree from you. But my best buddy ran around once i threw a stick and old Silver squirrel met his maker, being retreived to hand. Another few hundred yards later i stotted another lay horizontal on a thick branch. A tricky shot in the vitals and after a dash he dropped into the waiting jaws below. So thats a few squirrels less for the Treecreepers to contend with and a great bit of sport to boot......pics attatched... Quote Link to post
silentshot1 206
That's one beautiful stock. That HW 77 reminds me a bit of Natalie Portman in Black Swan, stunning anyway but can even pull off the skeleton look! I imagine the stock weighs less than the original, does this have any noticeable knock on effect to recoil? Edited February 10, 2011 by silentshot1 Quote Link to post
