Well i guess that makes me a bad dog owner, oh well at least i know for future ref.

Thanks to evryone else for the advice

Who said that?

But the end result could have been a dead dog...so yea I suppose.

It's called constructive criticism, if you don't want it then don't ask for it.

Do you even know what was in the hole?

She could have been fast asleep or baying at bugs bunny for all you know. :icon_redface:

Leave her till next season and go out with an experienced dog&dogman is my advice.

Dont do what everyone else would and give her a few cubs. Its not big, smart or clever and your dog learns very little.

not knowing the outcome of her first "experiance" i would go along with this reply tbf. (not that the others are wrong in their advice).

plenty of time next season for her to "work in",at the moment the vixen will fight very hard.

locator and give her a whirl if you must.

as above cubs are not a real test of the dog ( the vixen may be when protecting them!!! if needs be then they must go but otherwise..........).

the very best of luck with the dog whatever you decide to do and be happy she is willing and able bud.

still a young one,so plenty of digs/bolts to come no doubt.

Well said FTB.Dog will learn next to nowt working cubs unless mums at home and if that is the case she might just learn more than she's bargining for.

To be honest mate if your experianced enough to know were your earths are, what they are and what they are holding as you have said then to be honest you should be experianced enough to keep a your dog away from them when not collared up.

Dont get me wrong we all make mistakes and I'm not knocking ya fella but a mistake like this could soon result in a lost dog.

Hope your dog goes well for you which ever route you choose to take.

No one said you were a bad dog owner,a bit silly yes, considering you exercise your dog with no collar on around earths, even if you did'nt know it was there. She is 18months old more than ready, what if the earth was say 10 to 12ft and she did'nt come out how would you locate her and she silent, also if it weren't fox she was or could be in a mess and who would you get to help you THINK ABOUT IT.not having a go at you either.

When i mensioned cubs were did i say it was a test for a dog or that it is big, smart or clever, all i ment was it helps to bring some young dogs on if you can get some cubs to ground for it to nail just to give it some confidence, but i forgot every c**t on ya lets cubs go for next year :feck:

Thats your opinion mate.

Mine is that cubs teach even a young dog absolutely nothing.

1- They give the dog a false sense of confidence if it can get to them.

2- They can get in unbelievably tight spots and sicken a young dog.

3- If you do hit it right and get a vixen in, they are probably at their most aggressive stage.

But as I said, thats just my experience and opinion on the matter.

Crack on.
