Ossie n Arch 1,682
My lamp set up is a bit "Heath Robinson" to say the least, but it works ok. The lamps an old one from work, it's called a Panther i think. Iv'e removed the battery and wired it up seprately. But I'm thinking of changing the bulb from 50 watt to a 100 watt. Will this be ok ?? or will it damage the lamp or wires ??. Cheers. Quote Link to post
happy larry 3
100 watt bulb could melt the reflector if its just plastic coated Quote Link to post
Ossie n Arch 1,682
The new bulb is in, just waiting till it gets darker and i'll give it a go. HL, the reflector is metal so should be ok. Fingers crossed. Quote Link to post
martin 332
What you may find is that eventually the wiring will overheat, and may even burn.Good luck though. Martin Quote Link to post
Ossie n Arch 1,682
Cheers Martin Thats what i was worried about, don't do too much lamping so i'm hoping it'll be ok for awhile. Well tried it last night wilst at work, and,.....Well i couldn't see a f**king difference between the two bulbs. Quote Link to post
SNAP SHOT 194
if the 100w buld is longer you are effectively changing the points of reflection in the lamp and the beam may change, and you may notice no difference you will notice that the batteries won't last near as long either, panther has a good beam on it... Ossie n Arch 1,682
Umm,...thanks Snap Goes of the measure the length of the bulbs........ Quote Link to post
SNAP SHOT 194
Some bulbs may be the same length, and still be the same length, but the beam may still be crap, stick with the same wattage or change up to a bigger more powerful light..... like the lightforce stirker, or blitz with a battery pack Quote Link to post
Ossie n Arch 1,682
See, there in lies the problem Snap. I don't have much lamping permission and my set up has cost me nothing, apart from the bumbag i carry the batteries in, and i'd already got that. The rest was all free from work. The new bulb was a £5 from Ebay and said it was genuine Osram/Lightforce ?? I'll keep it as a spare. Thanks. Quote Link to post
