lamping lurchers 34
yesterday there was a big rotty bitch roaming the streets for aout 3 hours, this morning i seen an old terrier x roaming shitting everywhere it could drop its arse, then on the way to nursery with the cairn i seen a fawn saluki x nearlly got nocked over twice, it was skin and bone with a very poor coat, no collar and a piece of rope round its neck in a knot and the rest about 4 feet long all frayed as if the dog chewed its self free, i approached it feeling very sorry for it due to the state it was is as i git 6 feet away it cowered so i spoke softly to it and stuck out my hand the poor thing screamed its lungs out and bolted in the opposite direction, just avoiding another car,i have just picked the bairn up from nursery and the bitch is still roaming but cant get anywhere near it before it bolts, so thats atleast 4 hours roaming next to a busy part of shildon county durham feet away from the trainstation and a very busy industrial estate, the poor bitch doesnt look 1 year old and its went to waste and hes been left to rome........... rant over mike Quote Link to post
Shazza 52
Very upsetting to see mate, a lot of people should be banned from ever keeping animals. Have you tried taking some fresh meat out with you to tempt the Saluki? Most starving dogs can overcome thier fear if they're that hungry Quote Link to post
kaspadog 1
Real shame that but unfortunately too many c***s in this game that dont know how to look after themselves let alone an animal. 1 Quote Link to post

Malt 379
When I was a kid every estate used to have a few dogs wandering about the place, they were never any trouble. They were almost always kid friendly and socialised by virtue of them being out and around us for most of the day. There never seemed to be as much dog shit lying about the place either, probably because it's not the loose dogs that are to blame, it's the ones on leads that have no choice but to shit on the pavement where it's going to be trodden in. Suppose These days people have got nothing better to moan about.. Quote Link to post

bobslurchers 1
I have no idea how people can let their dogs just roam. I lost my rottie once for about 30 mins and was panicking, not as she was aggressive as she was a sweet dog BUT for who my pinch her or who may wind her up. Luckily I found her roughly where I had expected, as she had taken herself on her usual route round the block and was buzy sniffing. I was amazed though as she had been gone about 30 mins before we noticed (OH thought she was with me and visa versa - when she slipped out the garden) but no one had caught her or raised the alarm about there being a large "scary looking" dog taking itself for a walk next to the main road into town. Everybody knew it and it would come up to you for a clap and then away it would go.......Still remember its name too 'Mooshka'.... Quote Link to post

We had all sorts over the years, mostly mongrels or little terriers I seem to remember. The last one I can remember died of old age about 5 years back. He was a deerhound/greyhound type lurcher called 'Eric'. You always used to see him doing his rounds at various times. Some of the old folks used to feed him scraps, and he used to sit outside their windows until they came up with the goods. Quote Link to post

Just thinking about it now and there was a wee jrt that used to get out now and again and terrorise the local cat population.... I remember it jumping a 3ft fence right on the cats arse and the cat ran right up the side of a house, 2 storeys and right onto the roof, 1 slip and it was a 1 very dead pussy........
