longy0710 2
Guys After a little advice here, only been hunting a few months now (since december) and have 2 nice permissions. I am only allowed to hunt on them both at night but thats fine. My problem is, although i am taking one or two on trips there, i am only seeing 4-5 bunnies tops. One of my permissions is absolutley hammered with damage to land by rabbits but yet i only ever see 3-4 up there on a night. I have been up at various times of the night and still only see 3-4. What would you guys suggest i do? I know there will be loads more out come spring/summer (or atleast i hope???) but i cant understand why i am seeing so few when the damage is so extensive. Can anyone give me some tips or advice, was thinking of doing a complete night on the land just to see if i have missed an hour when they are most prolific. ATB Martyn Quote Link to post
hunter1989 91
hi buddy 1st.is to go to the permission with out any rifles and sit in a few different places and find out where there most active. 2nd.go out in all different weather to see what they prefer as all permission different, Ive been out in 25mph winds and bagged and also in -3 and bagged. 3rd.make as little noise as possible as they will hear you coming a mile away. 4th.there a number of different hunting tatics such as static, walking and shooting from a car try all these and see what the results are,i have good results in walking and shooting from a car(i cant sit long enough for static) 5th.choose a good lamp and make sure you dont have the beam on continually as this will spoke the bunnies also. 6th.if you shoot a rabbit near a warren also make sure it around 2 meters away from the hole as if you shoot and miss place shot you have more chance of a swift follow up shot and also leave the rabbit there so you dont spoke the rest. there loads of rabbit tips, but the one ive said are the ones i find most important, also a very important thing is to find out your max humane killing range,so get out in the snow, rain, fog, sun ect and see how many are out,But if 5 are out on a rainy night the next time there may be twice and many or nun it depends on there routine really pal. anyways hope this helps you out any more help please pm and i will help you out buddy no worries good luck atb steve Quote Link to post

jackinbox99 41
Good advice from Hunter there. Are you sure its the same 3->5 rabbits each time tho! You`ll find that they come and go at all different times of the day and night. One of my permisisons sometimes you turn up and you maybe see 5, then they get nervous and vanish. Then, if you wait around long enough they will come back out again. Other times I turn up at a similar time of night and theres none out at all. Unfortunately hunting rabbits can be a very long drawn out game sometimes. Quote Link to post
