millsy44 72
Hiya lads, me again Arranged to meet another lad off this site mick01 for a days shooting, mainly a zero and target session but with the chance of a few bunnies later in the day, we left for mick's permission at about 1.30 a half hour drive and we arrived at his first set of fields, this place looks ideal. We got the gear out of the car and set off over the field to put some targets out and have a plink, we positioned ourselves along side a dense evergreen wood as to escape what little wind was about, we placed targets at 25,30,35,40 and 45 yards, i quick zero check at 25 yards and a few adjustments were made, mick has just put a new scope on his AAS410 and zeroed it in without to much fuss, we were plinking targets for a good hour or so and fine tuning our scopes, then we decided to have a look for some rabbits, gear away in the car and off across the next set of fields with just the essentials, we stalked a thick hedge line for a 100 yards or so before mick got the first chance, a bunny that was sat roughly 55/60 yards away, i held back and let mick stalk the rabbit solo, he got to within 35 yards knelt down and took the shot, cleanly dispatching a nice fat bunny my turn next and having just had a good hour on the targets and feeling confident with my mildot ranges i decided on a long shot, the rabbit was about 45/50 yards and between me and "it" there was a huge puddle, there was no way i would of negotiated the water and remained unseen, so i got into prone and settled my breathing, 2.5 mildots hold over and the AA field diablo was making its way to the bunny's KZ a huge back flip followed and one dead rabbit, the distance was paced out at 51 yards these were the only two shots we got on live quarry today but what a brilliant day it was, we both had a good chat about all things shooting and got on well, another lad from this site ive had the pleasure to shoot with, after taking "smoggyadam" out on saturday and meeting him for the first time aswell, So cheers for a great day mick I took some photos of the permission and the target shooting, but i forgot to turn the camera off when i put it back in its bag, resulting in a totally flat battery, so diddnt get chance to take the photos of the rabbits Arriving at the permission Targets at 25/30/35/40 and 45 yards, small plastic butter portions, about the size of your rifle magazine Distance idea And some photos of the permission and me and mick shooting Hope you enjoyed the read lads, and thanks again to mick 1 Quote Link to post

zini 1,939
Oh shucks, I'm honoured mate thank you very much for the compliment There is a lot of quality shots and hunters in this section buddy and we all learn from each other. 51 yards is a great shot for anyone if you hit the quarry in the KZ so well as you did buddy I’m not the best shot in the section buddy by far; I just understand better than the average kid on the block what the pellet is doing at each stage of its trajectory which helps. I have to practice just like anyone mate or I miss lots. I defo appreciate quality shots when I see or hear about them though mate. So well done again. Si.
