Recommended Posts

was out today on some partidge ground of earth who was asked by the keeper to try 3 woods on the eatate. first place we came accross is a decent earth 6 holes maybe but regulary holds last sesson we managed 9 reduns from here was a bit straight forward dog marked to ground, mark at 1.9 dug to and despatched humainaly and back fill.the second a bit different :hmm: ,looking at the entrances size ect of the place you would have thoght 2.0 max!but it is quite a rangy place 3 earths connected into one, so terrier entered had a bit of a run about at first then found, located her 3.0 on the b/f and decided to let her settle suddenly she moved gave her time again then started to locate her.you would not belive it when i tell you but..located the terrier once again but this time at 18.2!!! :icon_eek: that works out around 63ft down! an unberlivable deapth for an earth crevises ect ok but an earth? in 20 yrs of terrier work i have not come accross this ive seen some deep un what i thought were deep but 63ft crazy!and the look on earth face priceless lol  after about an hour the bitch moved followed by a cracking bolt and humainaly despatched by the gun again. needless to say we were all glad for a bolt  has anyone come accross this before? if so how deep?

As i said, the keeper has been there for 30yr and that earth way before he took the position on but as you said,i would never have thought it go that deep.

P.S, it was on the pheasant ground, not partridge
