empirecook 0
Firstly i would like to introduce myself. My name is Michael (call me mike), I'm 18 and a training chef but now looking down the route of slaughter and butchery as well. My main hobby at the moment is keeping tarantula's. Secondly, i would like to apologize if this thread is in the wrong place and have made a hash of this. So The reason why i have joined this forum, is because I'm now interested in shooting rabbits and use for personal consumption/learn about skinning and jointing animals. But my problem is that i have no clue how to go about buying a gun, Getting permission and general knowledge. And so i am wondering if anybody can give me some information i need for shooting rabbits? Suggest to me some good reputable places where i can buy guns. And any places where i can find good quality guns which are powerful enough to shoot rabbits, but not too harsh on the wallet (is it possible to find a gun for 100-150? even if its a good second hand would be good!) Many thanks in advance, and again...I'm sorry if this is in wrong section. Mike. Quote Link to post

Mike. hi mike welcome to the forum you need to acquire some land ,with the land owner's permission this is done by writing a letter or knocking on his door! once you have done this,i would say get ya self a decent second hand springer and get your self some shooting insurance too! start with shooting at targets on your permission or local club(your location, would be nice to know!!) once you have consistently hit the same groups at different ranges then,i would say you will be ready for live quarry try looking for Air Arms TX200HC, but you will be very lucky to find one for £150.00 but believe me its worth stretching your budget, for a good air rifle also look at Weihrauch 35,77, models. caliber will be your choice there are other HW's out there which i am sure some one else will vouch for,i can only say these rifles as i own a AATX200HC .22 and HW35K .177 and have very good groups i hope this helps regards Davy Quote Link to post

andyz 30
Welcome Mike, As Davy has said practice, practice and practice..... nobody wants to injure any live quary and the only way to avoid that is by punching paper. It's surprising how much fun hitting paper and knock down targets actually is. You will also find loads of info in this forum and a great bunch of blokes are are more than hapy to pass on their wisdom. ATB, Andy Quote Link to post
empirecook 0
Hi everyone, And many thanks for replying. My location is Orpington/Bromley south east London. Also i am wondering what how to zero a gun? I am reading many websites at the moment, but still don't understand what it means nor how to do it. Lastly, i am interested in under lever single shot rifles, but i get so baffled. Mike Quote Link to post
19powell90 89
Best underlevers on the market are: weihrauch hw97k Air arms tx200hc weihrauch hw77 Air Arms pro sport A local shop will be able to mount your scope onto your rifle correctly then you need to go to your permission and set up a large target 25yards away for .22 or 35yards for .177 these are the best ranges for trajectory ( can be explained another time ) on your large target draw a thick black circle around a 2p coin then get in a comfortable shooting position at the correct distance away and shoot 3 shots at the center of the circle (take your time), see where they land and adjust turrets (these are under the unscrewable caps on the top and side of the scope, one moves the reticle up the other down) a few clicks at a time towards the circle until you can consistantly hit inside the circle. this is the size of a rabbits killzone.
