Hi all i recently purchased an old HW77k Shoots like a dream but in need of some TLC,

Im unfamiliar with Weirauchs and this is my first so might sound a novice but are the old 77's Powder coated because there are a few dings on the underlever and barrel that have gone back to bare metal,

Basically looking for a way to disguise or re paint these any Ideas on what to use :icon_redface:

Hello Dai. Welcome here.

We'd really need to see some photos to help assess how much TLC your HW77 actually needs. The beauty of Weihrauch air rifles is that, they are easy to work on and restore. And, from the wording of your post, you are well aware that they go on shooting beautifully well, even though the externals might be in a bit of a state.

In my honest opinion, after shooting spring rifles for many years, the Wheihrauch spring piston air rifle is the very best there is and, the HW77 is the cream of the crop. It is the finest spring underlever rifle of all.

Hi mate,

I saw this a while ago, stage by stage refurb of an HW77.

Really useful!

... Forgot to say, mine looks like I've used it to demolish a barn in the rain, but shoots like a dream after it's last tune, in 1989 apparently!

Hi, mate.

As has been said, if you want to keep it and the internals are OK then those old German guns will keep on shooting just fine if it's kept serviced  The bunnies won't give a toss about the cosmetics of your rifle...

I've an old Diana52 that looks like it's lived most of it's life kicking around on the floor of a Landy but it shoots perfectly and it must be at least 20 years old now.

Your 77 shouldn't be painted or plastic coated though that must be something that a previous owner's done for whatever reason, all HW guns leave the factory chemicaly blued.

Cheers.
