ratattack 111
I always walk with a stick when out with my dog for just this type of situation. Has taught a few dogs like that one a lesson or two over the years Perfectly acceptable to walk with a stick and use it in self defence or protecting your dog from attack. scalesntails 118
I feel sorry for the dog. Its not the dog thats bad its the owners. I am sure there are plenty of lads on here that could make that dog good. The best person to call is your local councils Animal welfare officer. They normally double as the dog warden. They have the power to remove any mistreated animals and dogs don't get that aggressive by being looked after nicely. If you know someone thats amazing at training dogs with behavior issues see if you can get them to volunteer to take the poor dog on otherwise it will be destroyed.
dave1372 83
..... I remember a few years ago when a medium sized cross breed dog started to attack my border collie when we were out walking. My dog was walking to heel when this dog came and I reckon its owner was the guy on the opposite side of the field. Luckily I remembered something I saw on a programme about vicious dogs about grabbing them by the back of the collar and lifting them right up onto their hind legs which renders them pretty useless ..... which at this point although my dog which is not aggressive did give it a couple of good bites before I hurled it on its way and it limped off. I was half expecting the owner to come over and starting giving it some ..but he kept his distance :wankerzo4: .....my advice therefore is next time grab the feckin thing and let your dog give it a taste of its own medicine Edited February 7, 2011 by dave1372
Simoman 110
Why not knock on the door and speak to the owner..............
chalkedup 14
i spoke to the owners when it ripped the side of another aslation open but i told them it had attacked a person aswell and they still didnt go over to sort it, they just ran off so no point i think the owner of the jrt went round to see them straight after but i havnt seen him so dont know what happened or if his dogs ok or not
littlefish 585
Phone the police and say it attacked YOU. It will then be seen as a more dangerous than attacking another dog. They will have to take action then.
Guest chook
Ring the dog warden its their job to deal with out of controal dogs tell them were the dog lives. Or if you can get hold of the dog when its roaming, take it to the local pound or ring the dog warden to collect it, if these peeps dont care about their dog there not going to pay to get it out again, i would however tell the warden or the pound if you do - do this that youve seen the dog attack other dogs, that way its not sold to someone whos got other dogs.
Cold Ethyl 63
Tell the police to pull their finger out there backside the dog is loose and no owner and acting agressively enough to cause "sufficient fear and alarm to people and other animals" This means under the law and dogs act they have to act id have a word with their chief inspector and qoute it to him.Id tell him your considering involving the press and his names on the top of your list lol soon pull it out then im sure. The dog doesnt even have to injure just cause fear that it may and a dog must be handled by someone no less than 16 years old if no ones out with this dog theyre breaking the law and the police know it.Its all in here so you can quote them on what part causes the issue then they cannot argue http://www.legislation.gov.uk/ukpga/1991/65

danman 27
walk on there wearing a suit of armour pick it up by its tail and swing it around your head
Cold Ethyl 63
Its doubtful they will get banned or the dog destroyed but either thay can be taken to court and an order placed were it has to be kept on a lead and muzzled at all time while in public areas is the usual first approach. If they fail there then it might be that they get ordered to have the dog destroyed or the dog seized. shushyjukal 41
You don't really seem to want to try any of the suggestions apart from getting it put down so why not try this, Buy some cheap sausage, inject it with some sort of poison for rats or the like then when you see it drop a few on the floor discreetly and let it chuff them down. Its harsh but if nobody wants to help what can you do? Job done.
