gnasher16 30,121
i dont like football i dont just say that to be different lol its boring to me i could understand if you supported a local team of local lads but except for the lower level teams that isnt the case Thats fine each to their own......i dont like knitting, thats boring to me,so i dont enter into conversations about knitting, and i dont slag knitting off as i know some folk find it great.....each to their own......what people who dont like football get out of entering into discussions about football i dont know Besides which.....the proofs in the pudding its the most popular activity in world sport.....so its you whos different not us who love it. I do support a team of local lads.....as folk from Manchester do,as folk from Liverpool Glasgow or any other area do.....or should we choose to go and watch a poor level of the sport played by poor level players.....if you love a sport its perfectly natural to want to watch it played at the highest level. If you was into greyhound racing would you go and watch the top hounds at the top local track or would you go watch 2 labradors racing round the local park ?....If your into football you want to watch it played at the highest level. My team West Ham are certainly not the best but ive been to see reserve games/youth team games plenty of times....id rather do that than go and watch Leyton Orient who are also local, because West Ham are my team....wheres the problem ... As for hatred...theres only one club i genuinely hate as does any West Ham fan and it go,s far beyond football....as does the rivalries between many clubs worldwide....nothing wrong with healthy rivalry. Like i say,i could probably find fault in knitting,i just havent got the interest to do so.....so why somebody who finds football boring has the interest to try and pull it apart i find strange. trooperman 73
I must say dont understand the game ,,dont talk about ,,,never get in discussions about it ,,but the one thing i will say is this can not understand how they can be paid so much and think they are worth the amounts they do not earn in my honest opinion,,,call me what you want i dont care,,,every one is intitled to their opinion and my opinion is the only one that counts paul

andyfr1968 772
Each to their own.... I don't like football, in fact anything played with a ball is lost on me One thing I do know about footie is it's not a 'sport', it's a game.
robo-christ 40
i do of course understand the best money will bring the best talent, when does the team cease to be your team? if it had no English would you still support it? lots of people seem to only follow football for the rivalry, but the rivalry isnt really between 2 different areas, its between 2 logos/brands. how does it represent YOU? i'd want any team full of English men to beat my 'local' team which probably has about 2-5 English in it. You support a football CLUB not a football team....i detest the manager my club currently has,i dont think an awful lot of some of the players.....but because i support my football CLUB my loyalties are to whoever is currently playing/managing them.....they cease to be my club when i die and not before, simple. do you call all sports brands ? or is football the only sport that makes money ? how does my club represent me ? it doesnt, and doesnt have to either......the relationship is this....i love football, the area i grew up in had a football team who i support.....put the 2 together and thats how it works, very simple..... if your daughter married a paki would she cease to be your daughter ?......you wouldnt approve but loyalties dictate.....and thats the beauty of football and sport in general, its a very simple relationship........why folk try to make it more complicated than it is i dont know.
